So hello there, everybody!

Well wouldja look at that, I finally started a blog like I’ve been talking about doing since the beginning of the school year (which is now over, so haha, it’s been a while). Over the last few months, however, it became more of an actual goal, with the start date being summer.

So you all get to be my summer hobby! Don’t you feel so honored?

Somewhat ironically, this blog was created when our family computer (only the computer everyone in our family uses {except Lucas and Dad, they have laptops} for everything…) was out of commission. It refused to turn on for some odd reason. Idk, I’m not extremely techie. Anyway, I was messing around on the laptop and Mom off-handedly commented that I could start my blog. And I was like, “Hey why not” and opened WordPress and started clicking buttons.

So after a few days, lots of WordPress wrangling, and the arrival of a new monitor for the computer, here we are at Ava’s first post!

My posts are likely to be widely varied. I read a lot, so expect bookish ravings and reviews and such. I write poetry here and there, and it may end up here at some point. I have a modest collection of plants, maybe they’ll make a cameo. I enjoy creating art, perhaps one of these days I’ll walk you through a project. A mail received/sent tour might be fun, a stolen borrowed tag or two or three, obligatory book promotion for that book I somehow ended up on a street team for (not sure entirely how I managed that), occasional happy lists…the possibilities are endless.

Thanks for joining me on this journey!!

Always,

Ava

  1. That’s funny that you started your blog when your family computer was out of commission 😅 Welcome to the blogosphere, and I’m so excited to read more!

  2. Hi Ava, it’s great to meet you! I love books too. What are some of your favorite genres/books? (I say ‘some of,’ since I know it’s near impossible to name absolute favorites where books are concerned!)

    God bless!

    1. Hey Lizzie, nice to (officially) meet you too!!

I really enjoy fantasy. It’s hard to find great fantasy books that meet my standards, but I’ve stumbled upon some good ones. My favorite authors are Kara Swanson, Nadine Brandes, and Sara Ella (they all write for Enclave Publishing, which makes it my favorite publishing house…).

      And same to you!!

      1. Ahh, nice! I’ll admit I’m not much of a fantasy reader beyond the obligatory Tolkien and Lewis, but I do enjoy it sometimes. There’s an obscure book called The Winter of Enchantment by Victoria Walker – it’s older-ish (I think written in the ’60s?) and set in London, and I just love its world-building and aesthetics!

        1. Of course, Tolkien and Lewis set the fantasy standard. I actually have never finished reading the Lord of the Rings in its entirety on my own (try as I might. The farthest I’ve made it is the middle of the second book 😞), but my dad read it to my siblings and I when we were younger.
Ooh, I might have to check out The Winter of Enchantment!! It sounds really cool!! And also, it’s set in London, so how could we go wrong there….

      1. I did!! Not all at once. Not quite. But it was a very good use of my time! And also I had no books readily available and was feeling too lazy to scrounge any up. (Because your blog was right here and I had been meaning to read the rest anyway.)
*Gratefully accepts hugs and chocolate and shares it with you*

        1. Glad you enjoyed!! I have no niche lol. I’ve read some other blogs where it seems impossible to read their entire archives…some bloggers have been doing this for so long!!
