A Shower-Thoughts Poem

Hello, dear readers.

If you’re seeing this, that means I actually posted this, which I’m not sure about at this moment. Why would you want to read my shower thoughts about my favorite fictional characters turned into a hypothetical poetical situation??

Actually, when I put it that way, most of my target audience should be intrigued by that. Curious. Anyhow, here are said shower musings put to poetical form, for your viewing pleasure.

{When You’re in Love With Fictional Boys}

Are you to be the Gilbert
To my romantic Anne;
Or am I just the Wendy
To your fleeting Peter Pan?

Did you see me from the start
And know I was the one;
Even though I shut you down
Before you had begun?

Or did I always chase you
While you--laughing--slipped away;
Living in some silly game
You won't teach me to play.

Will you wait for me to see
You've been here all along?
Or will you merely fly away
While I wonder what went wrong?

All I want's to be your Anne;
Please don't be like Peter Pan. 

Coda

I was just intrigued by the differences between two of my beloved fictional characters, I suppose. The flighty (*gasp* no pun intended, but that was actually really good hehe) nature of the original Peter Pan (NOT Claire’s Peter from the Heirs of Neverland duology; just to be uber-specific) contrasted so vividly with Gilbert Blythe’s steady and patient nature. Wendy had to chase Peter and ultimately never got what she was after because she grew up and matured, while Peter didn’t. Anne, on the other hand, never really had to chase after Gilbert. He was always there for her, even when it hurt for him because he wanted them to be more than she did at the moment. Good old Gil, steady as a rock.

Anyway, perhaps combining the two into a poem was a bit much (and also won’t make much sense to those who haven’t read both Anne of Green Gables and Peter Pan *looks meaningfully at audience*), but it was fun to dust off my poetry toolbox again. It’s been a while, and April (National Poetry Month) is coming!!

Peter Pan from the Heirs of Neverland, however, is a different matter entirely ✨😏
