Coda

“But Ava!!” the observant among you may say. “Wasn’t there supposed to be a poem per day?? Is it not the nineteenth now?? And what happened to poem twelve??”

To which I respond, all very good questions. Please be seated whilst I sort them out to the best of my abilities.

Yes indeed, there was supposed to be a poem written every day. I got busy, I got burnt out, and as a result I didn’t write a poem on the twelfth. ‘Twas not for lack of trying, mind you. I scribbled about for over an hour, but produced nothing I deemed acceptable to post or finish at the time. Besides that, I figured if God took a rest after a week of creation, I could take one after a week and a half.

And yes, it is the nineteenth and I have only written fourteen poems. As it turns out, writing a poem every day for over two weeks straight is very draining creatively, extremely mentally taxing, has less-than-optimal repercussions on one’s sleep patterns when one is up past bedtime trying to write poetry before the day is over, and is just…not a sustainable practice.

As a result, I have a new proposal for you. Instead of writing one every single day in April, what if I merely make poetry a priority until you have your promised thirty poems?? ‘Tis either that or no more poetry until the muse strikes me several months from now. Your choice, m’dears.
